Tax Agent Disclosure

Person writing on documents with a pen on a table.

Information we are required to Disclose to You

As a Tax Agent, our work for you is performed in accordance with the Tax Agent Services Act 2009. Under this Act, the disclosure requirements outlined in the Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024 necessitate that we provide the following information to you:

1. Matters that could significantly influence your decision to engage us (or continue to engage us) for a Tax Agent Service from 1 July 2022 onward include the following:

Conflict of Interest

We act for both you and your spouse/partner/business partner. While we aim to act fairly and impartially, this dual engagement may represent a potential conflict of interest.

Referral Arrangements

We may receive referral fees or commissions when referring clients to financial advisers, mortgage brokers, or insurance agents. We will always inform you where this applies.

Related Party Services

Some services we may recommend (e.g. legal, lending, or financial advice) are provided by related entities or associates of our firm.

Limitations of Engagement

Our engagement does not extend to audit, legal advice, or financial product advice, and therefore we recommend seeking advice from licensed professionals in those areas.

Third-Party Cloud Software Usage

Your data may be stored or processed using third-party providers such as Xero, MYOB, or cloud storage systems, subject to their terms and conditions.

Offshore Outsourcing

Some aspects of your work may be completed by qualified professionals based outside of Australia, under our supervision. We will notify you where this applies.

Fee Structure or Incentives

Our fee structure includes performance-based fees or commissions for certain services, which may influence the nature of our recommendations.

2. The Tax Practitioner’s Board maintains a register of Tax Agents and BAS Agents. You can access and search this register here: https://www.tpb.gov.au/public-register

3. If you have a complaint about our Tax Agent services, you will need to contact your Accountant in the first instance via email with details. If they are unable to resolve your complaint within 3 business days, please contact Fabio Barbosa by email. Your complaint will be investigated by the Director or a staff member not involved in the subject matter of the dispute where possible. We will provide you with email acknowledgement of receipt of your complaint and our understanding of the circumstances. The email will inform you that we will attempt to resolve your complaint within 14 days and will outline the dispute resolution process. If you are unhappy with the outcome we propose, you can then make a complaint to the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) using the link listed above. The TPB will send you an email to acknowledge the receipt of your complaint and will review and risk assess your complaint. If you are dissatisfied with how the TPB has handled your complaint, the above link includes details about your review rights and who can further assist you.
